Yoga handstand on mountain with Strongbody

Matthew McConaughey and Ashton Kutcher are just two men of a larger group of celebrities that do Yoga. Yoga is now mainstream and many men around the world are doing it. There are  a vast amount of health benefits, so you should try it too.

I am not naturally flexible and I enjoy lifting weight's in the gym, if I don't stretch regularly my muscles tighten up and I risk injury. At one point my flexibility was so bad I couldn’t touch my toes, and that's when I decided to join a Yoga studio.  I quickly learned that there are many reasons why you should do Yoga:

  1. You will increase your range of motion – Tie your shoes without sitting down!
  2. Reduce stress levels – Through meditation/Yoga you will control your thoughts and mind and everything in time will be simplified.
  3. Lower body fat percentage - Through deep breathing techniques, your cortisol levels will lower which will allow your body to eliminate fat easier.
  4. Lower your heart rate and improve cardiovascular system – Live longer and feel better, lift more and run farther.
  5. Opportunity, you’re a guy amongst many women… Need, I say more?

There are many types of Yoga, Hatha, Ashtanga, Power, Flow, Vinyasa and more. You can do Yoga anywhere, at home, outside or in a studio. Most individuals prefer to join a Yoga studio and run through a series of Yoga poses with a certified Yoga instructor. I would like to share with you some of my favourite Yoga poses that will assist you in achieving the full Yoga health benefits listed above.
