We're a little way away from the holiday season, however, I wanted to give you all plenty of time to plan and get prepared for the challenges that lie ahead!

Don’t get me wrong, I love all holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, Easter, they’re all great. It’s all about spending time with the family and relaxing; it’s also a daily feast for all. You’re not at work, your doing what you want, when you want. It doesn’t sound bad, so why is there to hate about the holidays? The aftermath! With all the eating and drinking and for most of us a lack of exercise can take its toll. So, how do we enjoy the holidays, relax, visit with the family and avoid gaining unnecessary weight?

Here are some holiday tips that will reduce or eliminate the size of your winter coat.
  1. Drink water, and lot’s of it! A minimum of 8 cups per day is recommended. This will allow your body to operate properly and digest and process all types of food and drinks that you consume.
  2. Include a large salad once per day in your daily consumption, don’t use artificial salad dressing. If you must add some extra flavour, try balsamic vinegar and mustard.
  3. Start the day with some morning exercise to kickstart your metabolism.
  4. Weigh yourself twice a week. Awareness of weight gain is going to ensure when or if you fall off your health program that you get back on track.
  5. Don’t be afraid to say no! Avoid unhealthy food and drinks whenever possible!
  6. Something is better than nothing, even a 15-minute high intensity workout is beneficial.
  7. Chew your food slowly - it’s not a race! This will ensure you don’t over eat!
  8. Drink peppermint tea.
  9. Don’t consume any soda or processed drinks or foods of any kinds.
  10. Meditate. Spend 10 minutes each morning and set your intentions for the day
