The holiday season is upon us again: a time of endless holiday parties, events and meetups, and with them, all of the food and drink you can handle. While many of us enjoy a drink now and then, sometimes you can’t or don’t want to drink.

Frustratingly, it seems like the only non-alcoholic cocktails available are full of sugar or completely tasteless. As an alternative, we’ve created 6 alcohol free cocktails for the holidays that are simple to make while tasting and looking just a delicious as the real deal.

Healthy and Easy Non-Alcoholic Drinks for the Holidays

Mulled Wine

Is there anything better than a nice warm mug of Mulled Wine while you’re sitting by the fire? This recipe is almost identical to a regular mulled wine recipe— you just substitute the wine for pomegranate and apple juice. The tart pomegranate flavour really balances out the sweetness of the berries.

2 cups of pomegranate juice
Handful of frozen blackberries
1 cup of apple juice
1 cinnamon stick
1 star anise
4 cloves
3 black peppercorns
1 orange, quartered
Caster sugar (to taste)

Put all of the ingredients in a saucepan and heat on low until simmering. Add a little sugar if you like a sweeter drink, then strain into a mug and serve.

Hot Toddy

Guaranteed to warm you up! This cocktail is super simple to make, and easy to personalize with different spices like red pepper flakes or vanilla. For an especially energizing version, add some ginger and an extra splash of lemon juice.

1 tsp honey
1 tsp lemon juice
Pinch of cinnamon (or 1 cinnamon stick)
Pinch of ground cloves
Pinch of nutmeg
Black tea of your choice
Lemon wedge

Brew a cup of tea to the strength you like, then add honey and lemon juice and stir. Sprinkle the spices on top, then garnish with a lemon wedge and serve.

Vegan Eggnog

The ultimate in holiday comfort food!

4 cups of your favourite nut milk
1 can coconut milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp nutmeg
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of ground cloves
6 medjool dates
Maple syrup (optional)

Add all the ingredients to your blender and process until smooth and creamy. If you don’t have a blender on hand, you can substitute maple syrup for the dates and make the drink in a cocktail shaker, though it will be a little less frothy.

Cranberry Mimosas

The perfect twist on mimosas for a holiday brunch! The cranberries add a festive twist that looks beautiful on your table.

3 oz Sparkling apple cider
2 oz Cranberry juice
Whole fresh cranberries

Put a few cranberries in each glass, then tilt to the side and pour the sparkling apple cider until the glass is 2/3 full. Top with cranberry juice and enjoy!

Lemon Thyme Spritzer

In the mood for something a little more refreshing? This drink is super easy to put together, and the apple juice makes it feel seasonally appropriate.

Lemon Thyme Spritzer

2 oz of apple juice
1 tbs lemon juice
1 tsp simple syrup
1/4 cup of soda
Lemon wedges
Thyme sprig

Mix the apple juice, lemon juice and syrup together, then pour over ice. Top up the drink with some soda and then garnish with lemon wedges and thyme. The perfect non-alcoholic drink for any time of year!

Moscow Mule

Perfect for a holiday dinner party, the oh-so-instagrammable Moscow Mule strikes the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. With this much flavour, no one will care that it is a non alcoholic cocktail.

1 tsp simple syrup
2-3 mint leaves
1/4 cup club soda
3/4 cup non-alcoholic ginger beer
Lime wedge

Muddle the mint leaves in simple syrup, then add club soda, ginger beer and ice, then garnish with a lime wedge. Serve immediately!
