This is the peak season for BC Farm Fresh fruits and berries. While blackberries, cherries, blueberries and strawberries get most of the attention you may not know that the superfood, goji berries, are also being grown in the Fraser Valley.

Although native to Asia, famer Peter Breederland owner of Gojoy Berries in Aldergrove has brought nutrient rich berries to local markets.  The crop has just been harvested and hit shop coolers so you can enjoy the antioxidant, vitamin c, and beta-carotene packed fresh berries. The brilliant red-orange fruit are a member of the tomato and chili pepper family which gives them a one-of-a-kind flavour; sweet and slightly savoury. The tiny berries perfectly pair with granola, oatmeal, yoghurt or mixed with other fruit. Packed with flavour, fibre and plenty of nutrients, are low in calories so feel free to snack on a handful while their fresh.

Gojoy Berries also sells frozen whole berries and an awesome frozen "Smoothie Booster", a tasty blend of BC-grown goji, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries and blackberries. The Smoothie Booster blend adds a punch of flavour and nutrients to your morning green smoothie or thrown in your post-workout protein shake,  giving them the boost of local freshness.

All the Gojoy Berries products are available online and in stores now. Fresh berries are only available for a short time so look for the bright red packs in stores now!
